Our guide was very professional and knowledgeable. She paid attention to detail and made it very interesting.
The driver was also fabulous and very helpful with my husband who is disabled and we travel with a mobility scooter. He was wonderful about taking it on and off the van and assisting my husband.
Wine tour and cultural information from tour guide.

We really enjoyed our tour and wine tasting. Guillermo shared lots of good information about Montevideo and his love of the area. He also gave us some excellent cultural aspects of the country. The wines at the family owned winery were great. The place was very welcoming. Highly recommend this tour. We arrived from a cruise ship and were met at the pier.

Great guide. Had a wonderful day, saw all of the highlights. Even received Tango lessons. This was one of the highlights of our 18 day trip. Highly recommend.

We took this private tour for the two of us from our cruise ship when we docked in Montevideo for the day.

Our driver/guide was there waiting for us at the end of the pier and quickly took us to his waiting van. The driver was knowledgeable however his command of the English language was limited to only what he needed to communicate to us. He was able to explain what we were seeing very well (although with a heavy accent) but when we asked questions he didn't really understand. The biggest issue I had with having the driver act as a guide as well was that he obviously couldn't turn around to talk towards us as he had to pay attention to the road. This meant that between the heavy accent and the fact that he wasn't facing us made it difficult to sometimes understand what he was saying.

Aside from that, he was very attentive to us, stopping for pictures and being very patient if we wanted to stop and spend some time walking along in an area rather than driving. We covered a huge amount of ground and I feel that we really got to see all the major highlights in the city.

The city overall is quite European in style and the building architect is beautiful. He showed us the areas that were affluent both residential and the beach resort areas but didn't really see where the average locals live. That was ok for us as we had been driven into the countryside the day prior on a wine tour and saw the reality then.

Good tour if you really only have the day there and want to cover as much as possible.
Good for just highlights

This was a four hour tour of the city. Our tour guide was on time but the van was a little late as he went to the wrong port . We rode around the city with our guide pointing out the Old city and the new part of town. In the Old City we went to a park and a historical cathedral. We spent a lot of time in the cathedral which was good for some of the people in our group but a good majority found it too long. A quick drive infront of the Parliament, the residential houses by the beach and then back to the port where she basically gave us instructions on how to go to the Port Market. It is an interesting place as far as eating but not so much for shopping. Shopping was much better in Independence Hill which we found by ourselves.
